West Africa Youth and Children’s Advocacy Network

Mohamed Amidu Koroma

The West Africa Youth and Children’s Advocacy Network (WAYCAN) is motivated to join the Global Alliance for Statelessness to strengthen our ongoing commitment to promoting the rights of marginalized and stateless children and youth across the West African region. In many of the communities we serve, statelessness is a silent crisis affecting access to education, healthcare, employment, and full participation in society.

As a youth-led organization, we bring a unique and dynamic perspective to the statelessness discourse grounded in grassroots engagement, community mobilization, and regional advocacy. We believe that the voices of youth and children, especially those directly affected by statelessness, must be central in shaping solutions and influencing policy.

Joining the Alliance will provide us with an opportunity to connect with like-minded organizations and build collective strategies that are innovative, rights-based, and locally relevant. We are eager to both learn from global best practices and contribute insights from our direct field experience in Sierra Leone and neighboring countries.

Through this partnership, we aim to collaborate on campaigns, share data and stories, influence regional and international frameworks, and push for inclusive systems that ensure every child’s right to identity and belonging is protected.

We are excited to contribute to and grow within this global movement.
