65th Anniversary of the 1961 Convention Global Event Highlights and Key Action to End Statelessness
On 2 September 2026, the Global Alliance to End Statelessness convened a high-level online فعالية بمناسبة الذكرى السنوية الخامسة والستين لاتفاقية عام 1961 بشأن خفض حالات انعدام الجنسية under the theme of Preventing and Resolving Statelessness in Practice.The event brought together governments, UN agencies, regional organizations, civil society, and stateless-led groups to exchange experiences and highlight practical solutions to ensure that no child is born without a nationality.

Thailand Strengthens its Commitment to Ending Statelessness Through a New National Action Plan
Thailand has taken a major step forward in addressing statelessness by approving its Action Plan for Resolving Statelessness (2025–2027). Approved in March 2026, the roadmap fulfills pledges made at the 2023 Global Refugee Forum and builds on the landmark Cabinet Resolution of October 29, 2024.
As host to أكثر than 600,000 registered stateless persons, Thailand represents one of the largest stateless populations in the world. The two-year plan features collaboration within the relevant Governmental entities for resolving existing cases, preventing new ones, safeguarding fundamental rights, and modernizing civil registration systems.

The UNHCR Global NGO Consultations Side Event on Digital Identity and Statelessness
We are pleased to announce the upcoming side event, “Digital Identity and Statelessness: Towards Inclusive Digital Transformation,” organized as part of the 2026 UNHCR–NGO Global Consultations. Co-organized by Nationality For All with the support of 9 regional and international organizations, this session will take place via Zoom Meetings. It provides a critical opportunity for participants to examine how digital identity systems and digitalized civil registration impact stateless persons and those at risk of statelessness.

من السياسات إلى الناس: سد الفجوة بشأن انعدام الجنسية في تايلاند
لقد تشكلت مسيرة تايلاند نحو معالجة انعدام الجنسية عبر عقود من الإصلاحات السياسية، وجهود المناصرة المجتمعية، والاعتراف الوطني المتزايد بأن الهوية القانونية أساسية للكرامة الإنسانية، والاندماج، والتنمية. وعلى مر السنين، اتخذت تايلاند خطوات هامة للحد من انعدام الجنسية وحل المشكلات المزمنة المتعلقة بالوضع غير القانوني، لا سيما بين الأقليات العرقية، والمجتمعات الحدودية، والمهاجرين المقيمين لفترات طويلة، والأشخاص الذين لم تُسجل مواليدهم أو سجلاتهم العائلية بشكل صحيح.
شكّل قرار مجلس الوزراء الصادر في 29 أكتوبر 2024 إنجازاً هاماً، إذ صُمّم لإنشاء مسارات أوضح وأسرع للحصول على الجنسية أو تأمين الإقامة القانونية لأكثر من 480 ألف شخص. وقد مثّل هذا القرار نقطة تحوّل تاريخية بتقليصه مدة معالجة الطلبات بشكل ملحوظ.
