Upcoming 2nd Quarterly Meetings of the Global Alliance Thematic Working Groups
We are pleased to announce the upcoming 2nd quarterly meetings of the three Global Alliance Thematic Working Groups (TWGs), which will take place virtually via Zoom on 27 May, 3 and 9 June 2026. These sessions provide an opportunity for Alliance members to exchange expertise, discuss ongoing initiatives, and contribute to collaborative efforts under the 2026 TWG workplans.
All three meetings will be open to all members of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness.

International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) Side Event on Legal Identity in Migration
An upcoming side event at the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) will focus on Legal Identity in Migration: Operational Realities of Return, Readmission and Reintegration, and Statelessness Considerations. The event co-organized by UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will take place on Wednesday, 29 April, from 10:00–11:30 EDT / 16:00–17:30 CEST .

Equal Nationality Rights for Equal Citizens: High-Level Event at CSW70
On 10 March 2026, a high-level event titled “Equal Nationality Rights for Equal Citizens” will take place during the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at UN Headquarters in New York.
The event is co-sponsored by the Global Alliance and its TWG on Addressing Discrimination in Nationality Laws, alongside the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, the Governments of Liberia and the UK, Equality Now, WRC, UNICEF, UNHCR, and UN Women.

Every child’s right to a nationality and identity: Preventing childhood statelessness
Statelessness remains a significant challenge affecting millions worldwide. At the end of 2024, at least 4.4 million stateless persons and persons of undetermined nationality were reported across 101 countries – with children representing 44% of those affected.
