| The Government of Peru joins with firm conviction the Global Alliance to End Statelessness, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to ensuring that every person enjoys the right to a nationality without discrimination. Peru is a State Party to the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness and has consistently upheld international and regional frameworks promoting the right to nationality. At the 2023 Global Refugee Forum, Peru pledged to establish, by 2025, a responsible authority and a procedure for the determination of statelessness, thus taking a decisive step toward identifying and protecting stateless persons within its territory. Joining the Global Alliance represents an opportunity for the Government of Peru to translate this pledge into action through reinforcing cooperation and sharing good practices. As part of the Alliance, Peru seeks to contribute to the collective global effort to eliminate statelessness by strengthening national legislation, improving data collection, and enhancing institutional coordination across relevant sectors. The Government of Peru remains committed to advancing the principles of the Chile Plan of Action 2024–2034, which emphasize inclusion, identity, and protection for all persons in situations of vulnerability. By joining the Global Alliance, the Government of Peru reaffirms its determination to consign statelessness to history, ensuring that no person within its territory remains without legal identity or recognition. |
