From Myanmar to Denmark: Ibrahim’s Journey as a Stateless Rohingya
Ibrahim is a stateless refugee from the Rohingya community, the largest stateless population in the world. He and his family were resettled to Denmark over 20 years ago. Although he has found work and his children have access to education, he remains stateless. He shares his experience with powerful words:
“Being stateless means a profound sense of worthlessness, as it means lacking a connection to any nation. For me, the road to citizenship is long. (…) Even if I obtain citizenship, my heart belongs to Myanmar.”
