Fidel Birhan Charitable Organization (FBCO)
Fidel Birhan Charitable Organization (FBCO) is a board-led, volunteer-based, non-governmental charitable organization which was established in September 2020 by professionals from different backgrounds including national and international NGOs, UN agencies and government offices (the Fidel Family) who came together to serve their community engaging in development, humanitarian and peace building initiatives. FBCO aims to improve the socio-economic problems of the country by designing and implementing innovative, evidence-based, impact-driven, culturally appropriate, and community-based interventions. Education, Youth Empowerment, Peace and Democracy Building, Environmental Protection, and access to justice are the strategic priorities of the organization. Currently, the Fidel Family has currently over 100 members from different professional backgrounds at the heart of its operation.
Currently, FBCO is implementing a significant development in our ongoing efforts to ensure access to safe, protective, and conducive primary learning environments for crisis-affected children in in Afar, Amhara, Oromia, and Tigray regions, Ethiopia. The MoU marks a significant milestone in our collaborative efforts to provide quality education and support to children who have been affected by various crises, including armed conflict, and displacement. By joining hands with the Ministry of Education, we aim to create a sustainable and inclusive education system that prioritizes the well-being and safety of these vulnerable children. As you may be aware, Ethiopia has been facing various humanitarian crises, including conflict, displacement, and natural disasters, which have significantly impacted the education sector. Many children in crisis-affected areas are deprived of their right to education due to the lack of safe and supportive learning environments. Our proposed project seeks to address this urgent need by ensuring equitable access to safe, protective, and conducive primary learning environments for crisis-affected girls, boys, including children with disabilities, IDPs, and refugees in Ethiopia. Furthermore, we do have active projects in North Wollo in Amhara region and Arsi Negele in Oromia region. We do have a satellite office in Oromia, Gambella, Tigray, Somalia, and Afar regions. Our professionals also have experience working in refugee and IDP settings. The FBCO uses a holistic humanitarian, development, and peace-building approach to achieve its strategic objectives and works hard for timely Shelter / NFI, WASH, Cash, Voucher, and Livelihood response in some of the Ethiopia regions. FBCO is currently a member of the Shelter/NFI Cluster at the national level and at regional level in Afar, Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Gambella and Somali region. It is a member of WASH Cluster at the national level and the aforementioned regions. We have also recently joined the Cash Working Group at the national level as well as the regions stated. FBCO is very much interested to partner with SPLASH in the Oromia, Gambella, Tigray, Somalia, and Amhara regions Operation both in refugee and IDP response in the following sectors. • WASH, |
