I want to join the Global Alliance to End Statelessness because I’ve seen how a missing piece of paper can erase a person’s future — children kept out of school, parents denied work, families trapped in limbo. My research and fieldwork have taught me that the problem is rarely accidental: it is built into laws and procedures that exclude people on no basis sometimes but to seek revenge of them because of their political views sometimes. Having my citizenship stripped myself motivates me more.
