MASIR – Individual Initiative Association For Human Rights

Founded in 2012, MASIR is a leading Lebanese non-governmental organisation dedicated to advocating for families affected by Lebanon’s gender-discriminatory nationality laws and supporting marginalized communities. Our mission is to promote equality, human rights, and social justice for all individuals, regardless of their background.

MASIR is committed to addressing the issues arising from Lebanon’s nationality laws, which prevent children of Lebanese women married to foreigners from automatically acquiring Lebanese nationality. This legal barrier results in statelessness and denies these children access to basic rights and services. Our work involves advocating for policy changes to rectify these gender-discriminatory laws and ensure that all children born to Lebanese mothers are granted their rightful nationality.

In addition to our legal advocacy, MASIR provides critical support to marginalized communities through various programmes. We conduct workshops and seminars to educate individuals about their rights and empower them to advocate for themselves. Our organisation also offers essential social services, including educational support, healthcare access, and financial assistance, aimed at improving the lives of those affected by statelessness and other forms of marginalisation.

Through our efforts, MASIR strives to create a more just and equitable society where every individual can enjoy their basic human rights and live with dignity.
