Somos Todos Uruguayos

A civil society organisation that works to:
– ensure nationality for all citizens (naturalized citizens are still legally “foreigners”). This would also ensure eradication of statelessness in Uruguay, with main group being naturalized citizens who are left without a nationality as lose their nationality of origin. But also, those who are stateless and cannot access a nationality under current Uruguayan interpretations of the law.
– Ensure Uruguayan identity for children born abroad who cannot access any form of identity under the age of 18. This rarely means formally recognized stateless children, but does strongly impact on many children who face challenges accessing the identity of their country of origin as well as means cannot access a form of Uruguayan identity as is their right under a number of conventions ratified by Uruguay.
