Ufuq Organization for Human Development

Ufuq Organization for Development is an Iraqi non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing peacebuilding, good governance, the rule of law, and non-discriminatory policies in Iraq. Our mission aligns with the 16th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which promotes inclusive societies, ensures access to justice, and builds accountable institutions.
Ufuq is the only Iraqi organization actively addressing the critical issue of statelessness through comprehensive documentation and advocacy. We have produced an extensive series of testimonies and case studies highlighting the struggles of stateless individuals, including marginalized groups such as the Roma, Yarsanis, Faili Kurds, Assyrians, and children of war. These efforts aim to shed light on the severe legal, social, and economic repercussions of statelessness, including denying access to education, healthcare, and employment.
Our work also emphasizes the importance of legislative reforms to bridge legal gaps, secure basic rights, and ensure the recognition and inclusion of stateless individuals in Iraq. By combining grassroots advocacy with strategic engagement with decision-makers, Ufuq strives to amplify the voices of stateless individuals and work towards a future where every person’s right to nationality is respected and protected.
