The UNHCR is hosting the Alliance Secretariat, led by a UNHCR staff member as the Global Alliance Coordinator, who is responsible for the daily management and member engagement. Additionally, the Secretariat is leading and overseeing Alliance activities and initiatives, develops an annual work plan, and report on its activities.

International lawyer, humanitarian worker, and protection expert with over 18 years of professional experience, including 15 years with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Eastern and Central Europe, Central Asia, and Headquarters in Geneva. Currently a Senior Statelessness Officer at UNHCR Division of International Protection, and coordinator of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness.

In my previous capacity as a Regional Statelessness Officer for Central Asia, I was personally inspired by, and had the honour to contribute to Kyrgyzstan’s and other Central Asian states’ remarkable achievements in addressing statelessness. Kyrgyzstan’s historic resolution of all known stateless cases in 2019 and the significant statelessness reduction across Central Asia stand as testaments to the effectiveness of the multi-stakeholder approach and the power of collaborative action. The Global Alliance embodies this ‘whole of society’ approach, recognizing the crucial role of diverse actors, including the States and stateless-led organizations and communities.
