Inaugural Advisory Committee Meeting

Inaugural Advisory Committee Meeting

The final week of January marked a significant milestone for the Global Alliance to End Statelessness, as it convened its first Advisory Committee meeting, bringing together a distinguished group of Member States, civil society and stateless-led organizations, regional bodies, and UN agencies.

The Advisory Committee plays an important role in shaping the Alliance’s strategy, priorities, and workplan, providing strategic guidance and advice to advance its mission. By ensuring representation from national, regional, and global levels, the Committee helps drive collective efforts to address statelessness worldwide.

Held on 28–29 January in Bogis-Bossey, Switzerland, the inaugural meeting focused on operationalizing the Alliance and advancing key workstreams. Discussions highlighted the need to strengthen member engagement, enhance communication efforts, and ensure the meaningful participation of stateless persons and stateless-led organizations. Participants also emphasized the importance of reinforcing regional engagement and expanding the Solution Seekers Programme and state membership to drive impactful change.

The meeting provided an opportunity to refine core initiatives, including the Solution Seekers Programme, Regional Network Labs, Thematic Working Groups, and the Online Marketplace. A recurring theme was the importance of collaboration and co-creation, with participants reaffirming that these principles must remain central to the Alliance’s future initiatives.

The enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the Advisory Committee reaffirmed the Global Alliance’s mission to drive meaningful change. Building on these discussions, we look forward to translating our workplan into concrete action in the months ahead.
