Background
The Global Alliance to End Statelessness, launched in October 2024, brings together over 150 members committed to ending statelessness through collective action and knowledge sharing. The Alliance plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the Global Action Plan to End Statelessness 2.0, including by promoting promising practices and encouraging joint action. As part of its capacity-building and awareness-raising efforts, in September 2025, the Alliance launched a Knowledge Webinar Series to highlight concrete actions, lessons learned, and collaborative solutions from across the globe.
Knowledge webinar 2: Solutions to End Childhood Statelessness
The Global Alliance Thematic Working Group on Ending Childhood Statelessness is pleased to invite you to its inaugural global webinar which will showcase both high level and on the ground practices. Governments have a legal and moral duty to ensure children acquire a nationality at birth or as early as possible in life according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and other international standards.
Solutions will include those that ensure no child is born stateless such as the Foundling Act 2022 in the Philippines and those highlighted in the 2025 OSCE-UNHCR publication on Prevention of Childhood Statelessness. On the ground solutions include those addressing statelessness among Roma children in Montenegro and child friendly tools to promote the New African Union Protocol on the Right to a Nationality and the eradication of Statelessness in Africa and its benefits for children. Other solutions that ensure that every child has a nationality and address existing situations of childhood statelessness will also be explored.
