From Pledges to Results: a parallel high-level event at the Global Refugee Forum 2023
From 26-29 February 2024, the World Conference on Statelessness, organized by the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion, Nationality for All and Development of Human Resources for Rural Areas Malaysia, will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The global gathering will bring together various stakeholders to engage in a dialogue and to inform joint initiatives on statelessness centred around three themes – Knowledge, Solidarity, and Change.
On 28 February 2024, the Solidarity theme day of the conference, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will host a panel on ‘Uniting for Change: Expediting Solutions through the New Multistakeholder Global Alliance to End Statelessness’. The event will introduce the Global Alliance to civil society organizations, stateless-led organizations and other stakeholders. It will seek feedback, galvanize support, and expand the membership of the Global Alliance through the launch of a membership drive campaign. The overall objective of the panel is to create an increased understanding among conference participants of the benefit of multistakeholder engagement and action to address statelessness, foster opportunities for collaboration and support, and inform future strategies and action plans of the Alliance.
The panel will be moderated by a renowned stateless activist and will include a diverse range of panelists, including the representative of a Solution Seeker Member State, a regional civil society network, a grass-roots stateless-led organization, representatives of the academia and the United Nations.
The panel will take place in a hybrid modality on 28 February 2024 at 14:30 – 16:00 (UTC+8). The livestream link will be posted here once available.
